The city of Bangkok

Bangkok is not only the capital of Thailand, but also a huge metropolis in the Asia with a population of more than twelve million including Bangkok area. Here you will find a perfect blend of traditional Thailand as well as modern conveniences. Traffic is a major concern here, but that does not mean that you cannot take a stroll around the amazing attractions of the city. One of the most convenient ways to take a round of the city is using the boat services that ply the river of Chao Phraya. Your visit to Thailand would be incomplete if you do not take a tour of Bangkok. Here you can witness spectacular temples. Amazing palaces, vibrant Chinatown, a world renowned floating market, and a lot more. Take a look at some of the major attraction of the Bangkok city:

Floating Markets – These markets are the world famous attraction of Bangkok. There are several around Bangkok but the most popular is probably Damnoen_Saduak. Here, you will notice that mostly the tourists are shopping from the floating market boats rather than the locals. You can taste some amazing foods that are cooked right on some boats and get fresh fruits, coconut juice and vegetables. The small canals are filled with small boats on which various items are available for sale. The market is definitely noisy and chaotic, but the experience is colorful and one of its kind. Don’t miss the fun!

Chinatown – This is another famous market place in the city of Bangkok. Particularly famous for the huge number of gold shops, the market is also inclusive of diverse market stalls. This is a busy area where you will love the colorful ambience all over. The Chinese community that lives here has shifted from the Old City which is now called Rattanakosin, in 1700’s. They still follow their traditions and religious rituals regularly.

The Grand Palace- This is one particular site that makes the Bangkok visit complete. This amazingly spectacular Grand Palace was developed in 1782, and it served as the home of the Thai King, administrative seat of government, and the Royal court for 150 years. The work of architecture and the craftsmanship are done with such perfection and detailing that you cannot help but fall in love with the Palace. Make your Thai trip memorable by visiting the Grand Palace in Bangkok. You can visit virtually the grand palace by clicking here. (You can turn off the music, it's really annoying!)

Chao Phraya River and Waterways- If you want to explore the historic roots of Bangkok, then visit the Chao Phraya River and Klongs (canals). The area has witnessed the rise and the fall of the kingdoms, traitors and heroes. This is definitely among the most beautiful places in the city where the riverside provides the reflection of ever changing beauty of day and night. Set amid the surrounding of dazzling temples, palaces, luxurious hotels, and historical attractions, this place is a tourist hot-spot.

In addition to the above mentioned attractions, the city of Bangkok includes some amazing and famous temples. Some of the popular temples regularly visited by the tourists are Wat Arun (the Temple of the Dawn), Wat Pho (the Temple of the Reclining Buddha), and Wat Pra Kaeo (featuring the Emerald Buddha and located at the Grand Palace).
